Nutrition and Sex
Ever wonder how a self respecting male keeps his energy up during sex?
According to Robert J. Sternberg, Professor of Human Development at Cornell University (http://www.robertjsternberg.com), there are three different aspects of a loving relationship, which by definition, represents a love triangle. Intimacy, passion and commitment are the three sides of this triangle. Sternberg describes complete love as equal parts of these three aspects, and something we should all strive for. Obviously, we’re not going too deeply into the psychological aspects of these three points here, what we want to concentrate on is the physical aspect of a relationship, nutrition for sexual health. There is a relationship between protein and sex.
Keeping the male body fit and supplying plenty of energy is always important in a good relationship. Men tend to give love in return for sex, and women tend to give sex in return for love. Now, this isn’t a hard and fast rule, it’s a tendency of males and females. That doesn’t mean men do not need and cannot experience love, and it certainly doesn’t mean that women do not have a sex drive. On the contrary, if the only thing a woman wanted out of the exchange was love, they’d get bored in a hurry, as we men aren’t that great at giving love, and we as a species would go extinct in short work.
That, in turn, leaves men with the responsibility to not only be able to give commitment, but also intimacy and give it with passion. Want to know how to shove a woman away really quickly. Don’t pay attention to her sexual needs. The most important aspect a man needs to realize is that he needs to commit to making HER happy in bed. We’re men, we’re going to be satisfied pretty much no matter what. Pay attention to her needs first. She is the one we need to satisfy. And if we are unfit, don’t have enough energy, make her feel like a piece of meat, and are done before she has even started, we are doomed.
So, lets talk about what this article is really about. Nutrition for the male body and how it will help with the sexual aspect of a relationship. During physical activity, including working out as well as sex, are you running out of energy? It could be you’re putting a lot of stress on your body, mentally and physically, and not replenishing the reserves like you should, Protein not only helps you build muscle, all those amino acids are what fuels your brain, so you are more alert mentally. Carbs are a sedative. Your brain slows down, your blood glucose level rises, and your body starts to process and store the extra carbs.
Eating both high quality protein and complex carbs like pasta will give energy across a whole range of bodily exercise as well as mental stress. If you’re working out, you’re probably already taking protein supplements for building mass, but you also need to realize your body might be telling you to consume more protein for the ENERGY aspect of it. Protein has more energy to offer. As well as not craving the carbohydrates quite as much. Also if you’d like to lose a few pounds, uping the protein intake will actually allow your body to start using the fat reserves, you’ll be carrying less weight, thereby gaining more energy to use for activity other than just moving the extra few pounds around. So at the evening meal, cut down on the pasta a bit and up the chicken a little. Protein and nutrition are intertwined, you can’t have good nutrition without protein.
Don’t forget, you still need calories, carbs and water. Get more calories from the protein, but make sure you are still getting the carbs you need also. Water is your most critical nutrient. Make sure you’re replenishing the water your’re losing during a workout. It’s easy to carry that water bottle around during your workout but realize that afterward, you’re still in the process of replenishing what you lost, and your body is still ridding itself of the toxins created while working out. Keep consuming the water.
Consuming a lot of fat slows you down and depresses your metabolism, robbing you of energy. For good sexual health as well as overall well being, restrict your intake of fatty red meats, such as the marbled varieties, such as prime rib, good t-bones, etc. They’re over-the-top delicious, but the excess fat reduces the benefit of the protein they contain. Same as with too many nuts and whole milk dairy products. Cut down on the cheeses also.
Excess stress in your life will also cause a lack of libido, so if you’re experiencing a lot of stess on the job or family situations, try a good multi-vitamin heavy with the B-complexes. A small glass of wine in the evening will have a tendency to reduce the effects of the stress, keeping in mind that alcohol in general will lower the water level in your body so don’t overdo it with the wine. This might also loosen you and your partner up a little, make you feel more amorous and reduce inhibitions.
Another good suggestion is to raise your iron intake, through an iron supplement, if you aren’t into the lean red meat and green vegetable scene. Orange juice has a tendency to help with iron intake, so try some alongside the high iron content foods you normally consume. Lastly, don’t forget the chocolate, not a lot, as it’s normally mixed with a lot of sugar. But traditionally, chocolate is known for arousal properties, that, with your small glass of wine, could do the trick!
